RetrofitKC for ARN Members

retrofitkc_logo_70 Sponsored by: neri_thumb

The official roll-out of the RetrofitKC program begins on Monday, October 10th, 2011 so watch your RetrofitExchange.com consoles for new leads and RFPs (Requests for Pricing) to start appearing.  We expect this pilot program to be highly successful, especially now that we have the Wells Fargo Energy Mortgage division solidly behind this effort.

We know that many of you will want updates so that you can benefit from this program so please note our webinar schedule below:

Webinars specifically for KC-area ARN members:

  • Energy Rater - If you are a RESNET-certified Home Energy Rater, have the proper insurance and are an ARN member, then you will have controlled access to the energy audit information uploaded by certified energy auditors so that you can finalize the HERS Rating and create the specialized forms required by Energy Mortgage lenders, such as Wells Fargo.  Keep in mind that the job will already have been reviewed and will have had program specific improvement analysis reports developed by a Residential Energy Performance Administrator (REPA) using the RetrofitExchange automated online system, so that you will have a running-start on approving and finalizing the HERS Rating and energy mortgage specific reports.  Please plan to attend the following webinar:
  • Tuesday Evening, October 25th, 2011 at 7pm -- Click this link to register: http://anymeeting.com/PIID=EA53DD808049

Roles Involved in the Retrofit Exchange Online Energy Retrofit Marketplace

1 - An EIPM (Energy Improvement Project Manager) --- also known as a "Retrepreneur" --- is primarily an experienced Project Manager that has a successful track record in residential construction/retrofits.  Since the energy mortgage process is new to many of them and also the roles of the energy auditor, energy rater and other similar professions can be unfamilar to them, we have developed the REPA role to help fulfill the needs and goals of the client while expediting the entire energy improvement/retrofit process.  The EIPM is the "General Contractor" of the project and is responsible to fulfill the following items:

    • Managing a team to support the customer. This team includes a RECSC - Residential Energy Client Service Coordinator, a Field Project Manager, and a Purchasing Manager.
    • Working with funding sources and with the homeowner to ensure funds are appropriately escrowed.
    • Ensuring every contractor is appropriately insured and meets the requirements of programs with which you are affiliated.
    • Selection of their Energy Professional Team (Energy Auditor, HERS Rater, REPA) and Trade Contractors.
    • Assisting the homeowner with their selection of improvements and options.
    • Managing the schedule for the improvement project.
    • Overseeing the quality control of the work being performed.
    • Sign-offs and approvals within the system to keep the project moving forward and to disburse funds for payment of trade contractors.
    • Finalizing the Energy Mortgage paperwork, coordinating the closing schedule and ensuring the proper completion of the project.

2 - A REPA (Residential Energy Performance Administrator) is in charge of aggregating, dispersing, and cataloging data during the design phase of the Energy Improvement Design-Build Process to facilitate the accurate, timely, and professional completion of all design tasks resulting in contracts to retrofit the client’s home to be more energy efficient and comfortable.  They are knowledgeable about energy incentives, programs and requirements and coordinate activities and information between auditors, raters, program managers, client service coordinators, and rebate and incentive suppliers to ensure the final package of energy improvements meets all requirements and all paperwork has been accurately processed.

3 - A RECSC (Residential Energy Client Service Coordinator) is responsible for the accurate, timely, and professional coordination of activities throughout the Energy Improvement Design-Build Process between the client and stakeholders (e.g., funding partners, rebate aggregators, artisan contractors, internal support staff, clients/customers etc.), and the sales of products and services.
